My toy dog Chocolate and I have been together since I was born.  We are inseparable like two things being attached by glue. I remember my dad telling me the story of how my best friend and I met for the first time, my dad had come to see me and in his hand he held my best mate.   His name was Chocolate and we have played together ever since.

After school I was always full of energy and determined to have fun, so I constantly went straight to Chocolate.   My constant companion and I always took a bath together when we were little. When I turned one, we had an enormous party with cake, fish, spring rolls and chips.  Once we had eaten, my buddy and I were waiting for the cake to be presented. Two hours later, after what had felt like forever, the cake had finally arrived. I was so excited that I slipped and face planted, with Chocolate, into the cake. My whole face was covered with icing but it did taste good and I think Chocolate quite  liked it as well, so I didn’t cry. Chocolate and I always played together with my toys and we also used to play cannonball with each other, watched TV and played on the tramp. Chocolate and I used to play on the monkey bars in kindy and swing around like two boisterous mates. Chocolate and I used to make sandcastles at the beach on hot Summer’s days also.

Chocolate and I always used to go on adventures like when we spied on my sister and she got super mad that we had hid under the bed and she never noticed we were there.  Then we got nerf guns and ran to the bed and we hid, after a while my sister got up and then we pestered her with bullets. My sister was flabbergasted and by the look on her face, I knew she was petrified.  Chocolate and I always used to play in the garden and run mad. My constant companion and I always played ball rush and hide and seek, tag and many more games. We also used to get ice cream from the freezer and eat it before mum came back into the kitchen.

I still love my friend Chocolate because he has always been by my side and been my best friend when I was lonely.  Chocolate will always be my best mate!

Lili gets sick while Ana is delivering circulars in her dune buggy.  Suddenly, a rabbit jumps out in front of the car and she smashes the brakes and flips her car forward over the rabbit. Then hits the ground and swerves into a tree sadly all the circulars fell out of the buggy.  Super sadly, the rabbit died from shock. Then she reverses from the tree and takes off through the streets, one person was  super mad because it was his rabbit. Everyone in the neighbourhood thought she was a bad person and everyone had worries about it happening again. She didn't get paid that week and also lost her job.

I give my prediction a 4/10. I predicted correctly that  lili was sick and Ana would deliver the pamphlets also we predicted the buggy would crash and also that there were animals in the story. However we got some parts wrong like Ana being yelled at and Ana picking up the phone.

Where am I?

Ring! Ring! There are always lots of customers arriving on Saturday after having a swim at the beach. “Yum, that was delectable” said one,

“One chocolate muffin” said another.  

“Brrrrrrrr this is cold, I want a brownie,”  

“Okay one brownie coming up.”  

“Thank you.”

This place is very chaotic and most fanatics are eager to enjoy what’s on offer.  There are lots of edible cones made from a type of cooked batter. You can hear people gossiping and chattering as they wait for their  appetising frozen treat. People would usually come after a dive in the water or after having a leisurely stroll. SLURP! People lick the cold, creamy, soft filling and smile in delight.

The alien

The Alien

As a young nine year old boy,called Caleb, was safely wrapped up in his bed, and just when he was going to doze of to a slumber he was startled by a boisterous sound. Caleb abruptly opened his eyes and looked left to right but nothing was out of the ordinary. Finally Caleb had the courage to pull upright in his bed so that's what he did, then he climbed out of bed and tiptoed towards the kitchen. When he reached the kitchen he splashed water on his face and went back into his room. He thought it might be coming from his room so he pulled the curtains  back and couldn’t believe his eyes there was a slimy creature how has six googly eyes.

It was an alien and Caleb screamed

‘Yikes!’

Then Caleb's mum and dad came running out of their bedroom saying

‘what's wrong son’

‘There's an alien’ exclaimed Caleb in a horror face.

‘A what asked mum an alien’.

‘Where is he?’.

‘On the window’ Caleb replied.

‘Wait a second, there is no alien’ Dad said confused.

‘What!’ It was just there’ Caleb replied, shocked. Suddenly I heard a high pitched squeaky voice.

‘What was that’ asked caleb

‘Hi my friends ‘and just when Caleb looked up there it was again the alien.

‘Hi guys’ said the alien in a friendly voice but there was no answer. After a while, Caleb said ‘What is your name?’

‘Why name is Josh’.

‘Well Josh would you like to live with us?’

‘Yes please’

‘Caleb what nonsense why is a slimy creature allowed to live in our house’

‘It's all right mum he’s not bad. Wait a second are you bad?’ asked Caleb

‘Of course not ‘

‘Well then you are welcome to live with us’.

The coral reef is full of vibrant staghorn coral.  It looks like the bumpy bits of an apple pie pastry.  The vibrant, vivid coral sways side to side like the palm trees in Hawaii.

This mako shark is  14 foot and weighs 280 kgs.  It is a monster who swims by school’s of fish, scaring them with his existence.  The mako shark is a beast at swimming and if you look at it swim you will be flabbergasted. The mako shark is as long as the sky tower.

The mako shark is as long as a giraffe laying sideways and swims as fast as a tracer bullet. The shark rapidly darts through the water like Usain Bolt.  The mako shark’s fins are as sharp as a knights sword. The mako shark is as thin as a skeleton and is as long as a pole. The sun beams down on to the glistening water like a rocket about to land. The mako shark swims in the water like a speed boat going at 500 km per hour. The mako shark’s fins are as sharp as  a roof’s edge. The water is as cold as Antarctica but with no ice.

The bold coral reef stands out like a professional painting.

He is as fast as lightning and has crazy dribbling against all clubs. He is the best because he was picked by Juventus for over 100 million for everything such as  headers and his remarkable free kicks that's why he obviously got bought by Juventus. Ronaldo is remarkable because he can change the game around because he has done that more times than anybody else and if he hasn't he has substituted in important times.

Ronaldo is the best because he scored 539 goals in his career so far and that is 32 more goals than Lionel Messi.Ronaldo is well the best because he is the top Real Madrid goal scorer using his right foot,left foot and his head to score goals against every goalkeeper in the world including Manuel Neuer who apparently is the world best goalie.Ronaldo is the top Europe goal scorer and is a goal machine against everybody. Another reason why Ronaldo is the best is because he has got the most golden boots at the moment and he has got four golden boots. Here is another reason why ronaldo is the best because he has magically got 5 ballon d'ors which is insane and nobody except Lionel Messi who has also 5 ballon d'ors but Ronaldo has more golden boots which da da ta makes him the best player in the world. Overall Ronaldo has to be the best, am I right?  Well I am sure you have to agree with me now that you’ve heard my speech.  In my opinion, as you can see…. Ronaldo is the best! When I was growing up I wanted to see him and when I saw him I was amazed and that's why I decided to play soccer and to right a speech about him.  So, If you like Ronaldo give me a big cheer.

I have decided to put Beauden Barrett on my note because he is a famous rugby player and is one of the fastest players in the world. My note is a 100,000 dollar note. As we were all running around after each other Caleb came up with a brilliant idea how about we get my ball and play catch.So we get it and start bolting towards the ball like mad. I touched it first and through it and Caleb sprinted after the ball. But out of nowhere Max was in front then very soon mustafa joined the party. They were running so fast that all of them fell over. Then Jack just walked past and got it and said yes!!!

Why year fours should go to camp

I am writing to you to express my opinion about why Year 4s should be able to go to school camp. As camp holds many exciting activities that would benefit the Year 4s.

Kayaking

For example kayaking is a good activity to develop life skills for when you grow up because at one point  you will have to understand it’s your duty to look after yourself.  Also that you have to learn to be safe in the water because if you go to the beach and you don’t know how to swim you might drown.

Archery  

Archery is also very helpful because it helps you get better  at sport such as baseball because you have to throw it at a target. It is  good because it helps you never give up until you have succeeded.

I strongly believe that year fours should go to camp. Please consider these ideas carefully and I really look forward to hearing back from you.

Dear photographer

I am writing to you to express my opinion about the way you take and arrange the class photographs.

I think you should put the teachers in the front and students at the back because teachers are tall and students so we can see everyone better.

Obviously you have to agree people will buy more photographs if you represent our school a bit more by putting the Halsey Drive School emblem instead of the red background so they know what school we are.

You will understand  that you should put the year photos of each year on the outside and then in the middle put a photo of the whole of every grade so it can tell everyone what each  year has been doing this year.

I’m certain that you will agree that we should photograph people who are absent and photoshop them into the photo so they know everyone and If they don’t see the full class it won’t be a class photo.

Surely everyone knows if you don’t jumble up the photos everybody could find the photo easier and see the photos of their teachers and friends and remember how much fun they had that year.

It is clear that if you put the photos each event that year it will really show see the energy of people having fun.

I’m absolutely certain that you should read my ideas most carefully. You may or may not agree with my opinions but please do consider them . I look forward to hearing back from you.

shlok eel

I was lowering the jumbo eel as it was chomping its teeth like a shark. My hands started to tremble with fear but it was going to feed our tribe several weeks. The hunger. I started to lick my lips like mad. It came from the river and I could see the flesh. I used the pigeon as bait to make it come closer. Soon my friend Jack had caught it and we cheered. I was desperate to chomp my teeth into this beauty of an eel.

Soon at dinner time we cooked the eel I was so greedy that almost the whole eel was done. I felt petrified as ever my gorgeous had been gobbled up. So the next day we went back to the river but there was nothing. I was shocked so I went to my tribe with a miserable face. So that day we didn't eat anything. We starved the whole night gazing up at the stars hoping food would return.

When the sun rose up and everyone was still asleep me and Jack went back to the river we could see a whole bunch of scrumptious clean food and perfect food. We grabbed the food and ran back and that night we had a feast . Then several years after there was only one pice of eel left so I said mine. So I told him I will take it but in reply Jack said the same thing. We decided  to fight however loses will not eat the crispy eel. I brang half the tribe and Jack brang the other half. Our swords rose and we charged at each other after many days me and Jack were the only ones left but we decided to share it .

A letter from gallipoli

27th April 1918

Dear dad

Here in Gallipoli the noise is tremendous like the sound of a bullet. Rifles are being shot and people are being killed. It's really hard being a soldier I mean like it is so hot out here and the pollution is so bad even there's flies out here!. We have to carry water up the hill and it’s really retiring and everybody is worn out. We have underground dugouts. The sounds of big snipers exploding are big  but I’m finally getting use to it. The violence is terrifying and everybody's health is really bad. We are wondering were our enemy is now. There are many dreadful things over here like the heat. Suddenly I find this map which will help us make our fight more interesting and help us come back into the war. So I pick it up and follow the mysterious map throw the horrifying smell of poo. I have to dodge arrows not touch the mud using the trees to help me. The sound is quiet and I feel nervous. Then suddenly I  find this gun so I pick it up and keep walking. Then comes the interesting part it says that there enemies are fighting up against our country you must hurry. I start to run and suddenly in the far distance I can see them fighting so I start sniping them and then everyone is dead we claim victory I shout.

The Waka

I sit with my whanau and the the wariors shout “Ka mate! Ka mate!” The warriors grip the oars tightly and start paddling  and I feel my blood running through my veins. Our strong tattooed arms are desperately ready to fight.

We stomp our  feet ferociously as the horizon comes closer and closer. The fiery red waka warns people. The red is like the blood of our enemy as we tear the juicy flesh off of them. The scarlet waka glides smoothly across the  immense sea.  The stunning koruru leads the waka into war.

How to Hongi

The Hongi 

What is a hongi? 

A hongi is the pressing of noses, which symbolises the exchange of the breath of life 

When does the hongi happen? 

When the tangata whenua side indicates that the speeches are complete, the manuhiri speakers approach the tangata whenua to hongi 

What to do.

1 Shake hands with a firm squeeze then say “kia ora”.

2 Then you put your left hand on their shoulder tightly.

3 Gently press your nose together softly for one second.

4 Then first take your hand off their shoulder.

5 Then take your hand away and you are done.

The hongi is a special way in Maori to say welcome and to say we are here to not make trouble.
